World Airline Awards

Skytrax is the world’s largest airline review website and each year hosts their annual Airline Awards.

This year held at the Farnborough Airshow, one of the world’s biggest airshows, the Airline Awards celebrated a number of outstanding awards for service in the airline industry.

Qatar Airways took the top spot as the world’s best airline with others who made it into the top ten including Singapore Airlines, Etihad Airways and Malaysia Airlines. The world’s Best First Class award went to
Etihad Airways having received reviews from passengers throughout the past year. They were also able to take home best First Class Catering as well as best First Class Seats. By region, Turkish Airlines won Europe’s best airline with the UK’s British Airways coming in fourth. The award for the best low-cost airline in Europe went to the UK’s easyJet for another year.

The awards take place each year and is the result of the world’s biggest airline customer satisfaction survey. Thirty-eight key performance indicators are measured for more than 200 airlines around the world to whittle it down to the final few. Skytrax takes into account written, telephone and online questionnaires completed by global travelers. So as and when you win the lottery or are already lucky enough to do it, the Etihad Airways reviews received show that they are the world’s best airline for First Class. The airline has a number of brand ambassadors including Katrina Kaif and Danni Minogue as well as being the main sponsor of high profile sports teams and events such as Manchester City Football Club, the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne and the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix which takes place each November.

For those who travel regularly between the UK and North America, the best transatlantic airline was announced as British Airways, and for those passengers who are members of the Star Alliance will be pleased to know that they scooped the World’s Best Airline Alliance Award.

The Skytrax World Airline Awards are the most prestigious airline awards and they are passenger review based, not profit driven so the surveys are transparent, as are the results. Who will win next year? You decide.
