How to go on holiday when you're in debt

Being in debt can be a painstaking process, as you pay off what you can afford each month and realise you don't have much left to enjoy yourself. When you're trying to get out of debt, there will always be something that you want that you just can't afford. More often than not, it will be a much needed holiday.

Research has shown that many people would rather spend less on other luxuries, in order to make sure they were still able to have a holiday each year. Apparently holidays are very important to us Brits. That said, cutting costs can be a useful way to afford a holiday, however, when you're trying to pay off debt, this can seem impossible, but there are a number of ways you can save for a holiday and keep paying off your debt on a regular basis.

Firstly, shop around for the best deals. Many travel agents and holiday companies will offer various discounts so be sure to look both online and with high street travel agents in order to find the best deal. Secondly, calculate how much that holiday is going to realistically cost you when you take everything into consideration. Things like new beach towels or getting to and from the airport, and all the spending money you will need when you get there. The last thing you want to do is not budget enough and end up in more debt than what you were, especially if you've had to use a payday loan to find the extra cash to get you to the end of the month. Those things are crazy expensive and really not worth it. It's better to make sure you have the cash in advance than get yourself further into debt.

Whatever you do, and where ever you choose to go on holiday, do not leave yourself short. The last thing you want is to be in a foreign country and not have enough money to get back to the airport or something. Not only is it embarrassing when you have to call up a friend or relative to transfer money into your bank account, it's also frustrating that you can't budget and look after yourself properly.

So if you are trying to get out of debt, and you do want a holiday, the best thing to do is plan, and plan it well.
