UK Holiday Ideas

For many, 2015 will be the year of saving money, paying off debts and positioning themselves a lot better financially. But that doesn't mean we have to lose our luxuries completely. Research has shown that people would rather give up other luxuries than give up their holidays, but UK holidays can be just as much fun as going abroad and cheaper too.

Granted, here in the UK, we don't get anywhere near as much sunshine as some of our European counterparts. 12 to 14 hours of sunshine in the summer months is what most of us dream about and not what we would often get in England, that's for sure. But we do have alternatives.

Jersey for example is known to be one of the sunniest places in the UK. A short flight or ferry ride from the southern English coast and you can be on one of the islands beautiful beaches. No language barrier, no currency exchanging, but just as much fun.

For those who are active, Wales offers a great deal of adventurous holidays, from sea kayaking with seals and white-water rafting to rock climbing and hiking up mountains. Who needs to fly far away to enjoy a road less travelled?

If you're a theme park junkie, again, we have several to choose from in the UK. Thorpe Park and Alton Towers are the big two, however, there are others like Drayton Manor and Blackpool Pleasure Beach that can be just as fun.

For those who like more relaxing holidays, the UK provides some beautiful countryside and coastal hotels, away from the hustle and bustle of our sprawling cities. Many also have stunning spa facilities to ease away all those tensions you've built up at work throughout the year.

So as you can see, UK holidays don't have to be the typical dreary coastal Butlins camps we have become so well known for. From city breaks to spa resorts, holidaying in the UK is actually a great opportunity to discover more of your own country, whilst keeping to a budget.
